Former President, Jacob Zuma have been accused of trying to divide the ANC ahead of next year’s election according to the South African Communist Party (SACP).

SACP has called on the leader of its alliance, the ANC, to discipline former president Jacob Zuma, saying his association with forces that seek to divide the ruling party is worrying.

This comes amid reports that a certain grouping aligned to Zuma is planning to launch a political outfit in KZN, with the intention to sow divisions and cause ructions.

Reports allege that the organisation is intent on driving a campaign to undermine Cyril Ramaphosa’s presidency.

Speaking at a post Central Executive Committee media briefing SACP general secretary Blade Nzimande has called on Zuma to unequivocally distance himself from any grouping that seeks to create disputes.

“It’s not enough for him to say ‘I will never leave the ANC’. People are continuing to do things in his name. We need much more active descanting,” Nzimande said.

SACP deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila was scathing, echoing Nzimande sentiments.

“The ANC must also come out clearly so that they don’t just protect him just because he is a former leader. They must discipline him.” ')}
