Zinedine Zidane has resigned as Real Madrid head coach after winning nine titles in two-and-a-half seasons in his first senior management role.
Zidane, 45, replaced Rafael Benitez in January 2016 and despite his European success has come under pressure for winning only one La Liga title during his two and a half years in charge.
“The squad already knows. I’ve not talked to them all individually but they all know, by message, yes,” he said in a press conference. “I spoke with the captains and with Sergio Ramos.
“It can be a ‘see you later’, Madrid has given me everything, I will be close to this club all my life. But the decision, for many, doesn’t make sense. But it does to me.
“It is the moment to make a change. I think it is the right decision for everyone. I have to thank the fans for all their support and love.
“We have had complicated moments of the season when you are not at your best, the fans push you and that made us better.” ')}https://newsoweto.co.za/zidane-quits-real-madrid-winning-nine-titles-two-half-seasons/https://newsoweto.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/zidane.jpghttps://newsoweto.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/zidane-150x150.jpgFeaturedSoccer
