There are many ways to thank your domestic worker for doing a sterling job, but Pamela and Jonathan Niemand have set the bar as high as it will go with this incredible gesture. The married couple bought a three-bedroom house for Viola Mkhwanazi, after her 16 years of service in their home.
The new property in Fourways, Johannesburg is a massive upgrade for the former Diepsloot resident, who was previously living in a cramped one-bedroom home with her two children, Mlungisi and Angelica (aged 10 and 6 respectively). As IOL report, the home comes fully-furnished and was a complete surprise for the widowed Viola.
The Niemands are very much a “share the wealth” type of family. Pamela has made her name as the CEO of Enigma Lifestyle Hotel Apartments, but she’s something of a local celebrity in Gauteng: She won the Mrs Johannesburg 2018 pageant, and also claimed the 2019 tiara for “Mrs Mzantsi Africa”. Jonathan, meanwhile, works as a business consultant for Discovery.
In the video, Viola is invited to the new property by her employers. At first, she’s a little confused by all the fanfare and assorted guests at the front of the home.
However, she’s overcome with emotion when Pamela reveals what the gathering is all about. In disbelief, she thanks the generous pair before being given a tour of her swanky new pad: Leather sofas, customised bedrooms for the kids and brand new appliances in the kitchen give the place a welcoming, cosy feel.
This is the energy we’ll be looking to take into 2019: If you’ve got money to spare, think about just how big of a difference it can make. Viola’s son and daughter now have a better environment to grow up in, and the change of location gives them a greater quality of life.
It’s the Mzansi magic we all need to be part of going forward. In whatever way you can, show a little generosity to those who need it the most: You might end up giving someone an opportunity they could only once dream of before.https://newsoweto.co.za/what-a-new-year-gift-white-couple-gives-a-three-bedroom-house-to-their-black-domestic-worker/Metro
