ANC secretary general Ace Magashule casually condemned all the leaders in the ANC this week when he spoke to City Press, allegedly saying, that “there are no iconic figures left in the ANC” and that the current crop of leaders “love money and positions”.
The comments come after the ANC announced four controversial names on the party’s list of candidates for parliament. Among those high on the list and likely to serve as a member of parliament is Malusi Gigaba, who is a central figure in state capture accusations as well as fact that he was found to be lying in court during the Fireblade Aviation debacle. Gigaba was also notably caught up in a scandal around a video in which he can graphically be seen touching himself. Bathabile Dlamini, whose failures relating to South Africa’s Social Security Agency (SASSA) are numerous and extreme, is also on the list, as is Nomvula Mokonyane whose career has been dogged by allegations of corruption and incompetence. Former Mineral Resources Minister, Mosebenzi Zwane, also got the nod, despite being implicated in the Eskom crisis as a result of his political posturing with the infamous Gupta family.
Magashule himself has not been free of controversy having once splashed the budget of the Free State legislature R5.5m luxury Mercedes cars for the top brass of local government. He also allegedly oversaw the Vrede farm scandal and has been linked in the past with the Guptas’ money laundering schemes within the province.
In the same interview, Magashule also explained that he was unconcerned about the white vote, and he did not think that Rhamaphoria would see whites vote for the party in numbers as whites did not even vote for the party when Mandela was president.https://newsoweto.co.za/magashule-says-anc-leaders-dont-care-about-the-people-they-love-money-and-positions/https://newsoweto.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Grootes-dealing-with-Magashule-1600x850-1024x544.jpghttps://newsoweto.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Grootes-dealing-with-Magashule-1600x850-150x150.jpgPoliticsMagashule
