Emergency workers were called to act fast after a man was entrapped in his vehicle after a crash in Pinetown on Monday.

Rescue Care Paramedics were called out to Goodwood Road in Pinetown after 8am as they had to use the Jaws of Life to free the man

Spokesman Garrith Jamieson said the serious collision involved a truck and a minibus taxi.

“The driver of the taxi became entrapped and advanced life support paramedics worked to free him. The Durban Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to free him from the taxi,” he said.

amieson said the driver had sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital.

It is believed the truck was pulling out of a local business premises in the area and that the taxi was turning down the same road at the time when they somehow crashed.

Durban Metro Police spokesman, Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad, said the cause of the accident was not known and was being investigated.

“The taxi somehow went under the truck.The roadway was temporarily obstructed but was cleared by around 9am by Metro Police officers who were on the scene to monitor the situation.”

The driver is receiving treatment at RK Khan Hospital. ')}
