Manchester City football club of England has rewarded their out going midfielder, Yaya Toure for his contributions to the club.
The training pitch of the newly crowned English Premier League champions have been renamed after the Ivorian international for his contributions in316th appearances and over 80 goals.
Head coach of the club, Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday that Yaya would be leaving in the summer.
Finally, his City curtain call has arrived and he will bow out on Sunday at Southampton.
How ironic that it should also be his birthday. Toure, 34, smiled: “Yes, after May 13 which is going to be my birthday again I will be free.
“But it’s going to be good and it’s going to be sad because I’m going to miss the fans a lot.”
Guardiola said: “Without doubt he was one of the most important players in our history.
“We will give him what he deserves. One of the most beautiful farewells a player can receive.”
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “The word ‘legend’ can often be misapplied.
The former Barcelona star said: “The club has changed a lot. But it’s been my pleasure. I feel like I have contributed to something.”
In fact, few have contributed more than him. Quite simply, he has been a colossus for City for much of his eight-year stay.
